Safeguarding at St Margaret's

St Margaret's CE Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff, volunteers  and visitors to share this commitment.

We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy which can be viewed on our policies page. This comprehensive policy sets out a range of areas in which we create a climate of promoting the welfare of all in our school.

All staff receive regular statutory safeguarding training and adhere to the statutory guidance set out in the DfE's current 'Keeping Children Safe in Education'. As part of this, all staff and volunteers working in the school are aware of their statutory duty to ensure that if there are any concerns relating to the welfare or safety of a child the child protection procedures are followed.

We are committed to safe recruitment and selection procedures to ensure that all staff and volunteers have been appropriately screened prior to appointment.

Our Safeguarding leads are:

Rachel Kershaw - Headteacher (DSL)                                           Victoria Greenough - Deputy Headteacher (Deputy DSL)

Our Governor responsible for Safeguarding is Vanessa Britton.

If you are concerned about a child’s welfare, please record your concerns in writing, and report to one of the DSLs as soon as possible the same day. Do NOT conduct your own investigation. You are able to make your own referrals to Children’s Services – see the details below

If your concerns relate to the actions or behaviour of a member of staff (which could suggest that s/he is unsuitable to work with children) then you should report this immediately to the Headteacher (or one of the Co-Chairs of Governors if the concern relates to the Headteacher) – who will consider what further action may need to be taken.
