Grace, Strength, Love

Topic

Our topic for this term is all about the Vikings and Anglo-Saxons, with a focus on the culmination of the Battle of Hastings. We will be having a Battle of Hastings day to recognise this with the children. Please encourage your children to do any research at home as we will be having weekly discussions around the history of this. The local area was heavily involved during this period of history so you may  even learn a thing or two yourselves.

PE

PE will be on Monday and Wednesday afternoon with with me (Mr Unsworth). Please ensure that you come into school on these days wearing school PE kit: shorts or tracksuit bottoms (depending on the weather), trainers, school jumper or fleece.

Homework

Children are expected to participate in daily reading and maths practice as outlined below:

Maths - Children should participate in daily practice of number fluency. This can be done via online maths games that you can find here.

Reading -  The children are expected to engage with daily reading at home, books from school can be taken home for reading pleasure and these should be recorded in reading journals. Reading for pleasure is important so make sure you read a variety of texts, it does not have to be a narrative story. If you are struggling with book choices please use this resource for some recommended reads (click the link)
